Our Welfare Officer and all our coaches are registered with British Fencing.
All of them have updated First Aid, Enhanced DBS and Child Safeguarding certifications.
Meet The Team
James Roberts
Armourer
Maestro James started fencing in 1992/3.Back then Harry Jones was one of his coaches along with Jacky Faulkner. As he got older James started to represent both his County and Region at both Sabre and Foil. He then took up sabre as his main weapon and under the tutelage of Peter Frohlich, Laszlo Jakab and Harry went onto represent both England and Britain.He is now a full time coach, teaching at schools and clubs in the Bucks, Berks and Oxon area.
Antonio Frulio
Head Coach
Director
Maestro Antonio started his fencing career in 1995.
Under the tutelage of Nerses Yeghiazaryan, Armenian international champion, he won several local and regional medals both in epee and foil. He started to coach in 2012, and from 2015 he became a full - time coach.
Catarina Silva
U12s Coach
Cat is one of the club's veterans. She started fencing in 2014 with coach Carina and never stopped since then. In 2018 she started to help running the beginners' course and after successfully passing the level 1 course she now focuses in helping the U12s.
Jeff Rosenbaum
Welfare Officer
Jeff has been involved with fencing through most of his adult life. He started fencing Sabre in college in the US and picked up Epee when he got to the UK.He is a BFA qualified coach and referee, and has been a qualified Welfare officer for several years, working with several clubs across the Southern Region.
Emma Hall
Personal Trainer
Emma joined Luso in 2022 as our personal trainer.
Every Wednesday she runs a full hour of S&C and then personalised one to one session with all our competitive fencers.
She also helps all fencers to prevent injuries and, when injured, she follows them in their recovery journey.
